Puzzle Cube (6x6x6)

The Puzzle Cube 6x6x6 is yet another higher-order variation inspired by the original Rubik's Cube, however, it is not manufactured or related to the Rubik's brand by any means. It is sometimes called the "V-Cube 6" becuase V-Cube were the first company to mass produce this puzzle. The mechanism was invented by Panagiotis Verdes and V-Cube actually patented it in 2004. Today, the puzzle is mass-produced by several different companies with varying mechanisms including YJ, QiYi, and MoYu. However, like mentioned before, it is not manufacured by the Rubik's brand. This puzzle is quite similar to the Rubik's Revenge only it has 6 parts per edge instead of 4. As with all even-order Rubik's Cubes, the centers of this puzzle can move around and cannot be immediately used as a reference point for solving the cube.

The Puzzle Cube 6x6x6 is made of 8 corner pieces, 48 edge pieces and 96 center pieces, allowing a massive 1.57x10116 different combinations. Solving it, however, is not very different to any high-order Rubik's Cube with the reduction method: group the 4x4 centers, group the 4x1 edges, and solve like a regular 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube (accounting for parity cases).

The official record for solving the 6x6x6 Puzzle Cube is 59.74 set by Max Park at the CubingUSA Southeast Championship 2022.
