Teraminx (7x7x7)

Loading..

The Teraminx (7x7x7), is one of the Megaminx's higher-order variations. Similarly to the Megaminx, it is a face-turning dodecahedron-shaped twisty puzzle. The difference is the amount of "layers" each face has (3 instead of 1 in the Megaminx) resulting in no less than 372 center pieces, 20 corner pieces, and 150 edge pieces which together create an enormous amount of possible combinations. It was invented by Andrew Cormier in 2008 and was firstly mass produced by cube4you in 2009. This version of the puzzle weighed almost 0.5 kilogram (1 lbs).

Solving the Teraminx is quite similar to solving the Rubik's Cube 7x7x7. True, it takes much longer and a lot more work than a Rubik's Cube 7x7x7 however the general method is the same. The Teraminx however, does NOT have the edge parity case. One recomended method for solving it is the famous "reduction" method. First solve the pentagon center of each of the faces, then group the edges together and finally solve like a regular Megaminx.

The Teraminx is not an official WCA puzzle however the unofficial record for fastest solve belongs to Frenchman, Matthieu Aubert and is 23:04.94 minutes.
